Hemerocallis 'Celebration of Angels'

Hemerocallis 'Celebration of Angels'

Here we have a daylily that is hugely enigmatic. On the one hand, each flower offers real drama, with a striking contrast of colours. Yet on the other hand Hemerocallis 'Celebration of Angels' is flamboyant, fun and full of pizzazz. You decide! In mid- to late-summer, fragrant, pearly cream flowers, some 12cm across, open to reveal a ring of claret-coloured blotches, the colour of which extends to the edges of some of the petals. Then, right in the centre, there is a pale green throat. Hemerocallis 'Celebration of Angels' is a hardy, herbaceous perennial, so it will come back year after year. It reaches around 64cm in height when in flower. It forms a decorative clump of arching, strap-like leaves of bright green.

Of course, daylilies are so-named because each flower lasts for just one day. However, the blooms come in profusion, on multiple flower spikes, and in sequence, so there is a glorious continuous display for several weeks, making these some of the most-often purchased plants when in season. And Hemerocallis 'Celebration of Angels' a perfect border plant for full sun or part-shade, should really be on your shopping list!
