Dahlia 'Polka'
Exquisite in its detail, Dahlia 'Polka' bears more than a passing resemblance to hand painted bone china. This anemone-flowered variety consists of a neat, yellow central powderpuff surrounded by many creamy white petals with fine, deep pink edging, and possesses a flawlessness not out of place in a prestigious flower show. With flowers measuring around 10 centimetres across, Dahlia 'Polka' makes an eye-catching addition to borders and containers, fitting particularly well with an exotic theme, or perhaps as a foil to darker colours (think Dahlia 'Dark Spirit' and Cosmos atrosanguineus 'Chocamocha').
Flowering from July until the first frosts, Dahlia 'Polka' does best in a sunny spot, though in very hot, dry locations it will appreciate a little light shade. Plant in groups of five or more for the best visual results. Like all dahlias, Dahlia ‘Polka’ makes an excellent cut flower, and in fact, rather wonderfully, the more you pick the more it flowers!
